Diwali season is round the corner again and home cleaning sprees have begun in most of the homes. Quick ‘fix-it’ renovation, dusting drives and experimental home settings are new engagements in everyone’s life. So here are some tips for Diwali Home Decor, that you might find useful and interesting.
Rangoli
Colorful rangoli designs on the entrance way are commonly made with vibrant colors, rice flour or chalk, rangoli make magnificent piece of art. Along with these attractive patters, place a big diya right in the center is make the design more appealing.
Diyas
Diwali, is the festival of light and one can be very creative in their use. The traditional illumination for this occasion is the diyas. The variety to choose from is wide; you have diyas in multiple sizes, colors and designs. Though choice of diyas is not much of a task, but their placement is definitely to be taken care of. Place them at the windowsill, doorstep, staircase and lobby. Make sure there is balance between the floor area and the number of diyas you arrange there. You can also use floating tea-lights amidst rose petals as centerpieces.

If you are already using diyas to light up your doors and windows, its better not to overcrowd a place with lots of diyas and candles. Make use of aroma candles and exquisite candle holders and choose from a variety of contemporary deigns. You can have an assortment of diyas and candles, but be careful to not to use starkingly different looks( a mix of traditional and modern, that is), or overcrowd the place.

Kandils or paper lamps are usually very colorful and you can even make kandils at home also. You can put up these kandils, over the light, hanging from the balcony or also in the center or the corner of the rooms.

Decorative electric lamps, chandeliers and lanterns are never out of fashion. You can choose from a number of different looks and designs to suit your interior or even outdoors. You may want to go for a sleek n classic look, if you have contemporary home settings, or more grand and huge chandeliers, if you have a large area and a heavy decor items adorning it.
Torans
Toran or door hangings are like a prelude to a book; it gives you an idea of what is about to come. So choose it carefully, to match with your interior decor. Torans, usually made of fresh flowers and Mango leaves, now also come with beads, mirrors and fabric. Door hangings adorned with bells or mirror look good.
Flowers
Flowers are great embellishments. Spread the aroma of flowers in your home, by hanging garlands made of flowers. You may choose marigold, lilies, rose, jasmine or exotic flowers like orchid and carnations, to decorate your home for Diwali. Fill a flower vase with aromatic fresh cut flowers and place it at your living room table.
